Wendy drove us to a nearby leisure district, where we found a garden restaurant for brunch.

Once we were seated and had placed our orders, I shared Max's plan with Wendy.

Upon hearing everything, Wendy set her coffee cup down and expressed disagreement with my decision to go. "Jen, I believe this guy has bad intentions. Going alone would be like walking into a trap. We can't give him that opportunity."

"I understand," I reassured her. "I know Max probably has hidden motives, but Wendy, this might be my only chance to make him confess."

"You're taking a huge risk," Wendy said, raising an eyebrow. "I can't allow you to do that."

"Wendy, these past few months have been agonizing. Every night, I close my eyes and all I can see is my baby lying in that cold storage."

"Jen, I know you're suffering. But your baby is in heaven now, watching over you, and wouldn't want to see you like this," Wendy said gently. "Every child is their mother's angel. Your baby is up there, silently blessing
