Chapter 2

Olivia's POV

I sat still in the corner where I was as the basement door flew open. I could hear his footsteps as he descended the stairs, and turned on the light. I held my breath, silently praying he wouldn't find me but it wasn't answered.

"There you are my little mouse." He said as he grabbed my feet and dragged me from underneath the stairs where I sat. I raised my hand in defence as he squatted before me. "You look all bruised."

He saw my swollen ankle and shook his head. "A sprained ankle too. Let's get you to the hospital." He said with a sweet smile and I crawled back. "I promise, I won't raise my hands on you. I am sorry for hurting you, let me just take you to the hospital."

"So you'll beat me up again after? I'd rather die from this pain than be treated and get beaten again." I said, crawling back under the stairs but he grabbed my waist and threw me over his shoulder before carrying me out of the basement. "Let go of me. Put me down."

He didn't listen as he carried me into the car and secured me with the seatbelt. "Don't test my patience this evening, Olivia." He warned in a very cold voice and I just kept quiet after that.

He slowly drove us to the hospital and the doctor took me into her office to check up on me. She has always been the one Liam brought me to and she knew it was all the hits I was taking he came to treat.

"You cannot continue like this, Olivia. Your health is at risk. Your blood pressure shoots up every time and constant spraining and breaking of bones is not good for your body." She said as she wrapped a bandage around my ankle.

"I don't have a choice," I replied with a low voice.

"You do have a voice. For the past five years now, you visited the hospital almost four days a week and it is either aches from him forcing himself on you or bruises or sprains. The only help I can offer you any longer is you divorcing him." She said and I kept quiet after that.

None of them understood me. Liam is the only family I have and everything I have achieved is all because of him. I knew it was just the frustration of me not having a child for him yet and he desperately wants an heir. I am so grateful that he isn't seeing another woman behind my back.

"And about your pregnancy." She said and I looked up at her. "He still hasn't agreed to come for a check-up with you."

"He listens to you. Ask him to come." I replied with a sigh and she just patted my shoulder.

"You'll be fine. There's still a 91% chance of you giving birth. The problem is with your husband." She said before walking out and I leaned into the bed with a sigh.

As I slowly stepped out of the room with the help of the crutches she had given me, I heard Liam's angry voice warning the doctor. "Do not tell me how I treat my wife. That is my business and not yours. Why don't you just stick your head into what you should and leave my life to me."

As soon as he noticed me, he walked over to me and lifted me. "Let's go home, now."

I looked back at the doctor apologetically as we walked out of the hospital. "We are changing hospitals." He said to me as he clicked the seatbelt. I didn't say anything, I just nodded my head.

Immediately he dropped me at home, he drove back out and I was relieved I had the house all to myself to have a relaxing time.

He returned home later in the night and as I opened the door for him, he grabbed me and started kissing me roughly. The stench of alcohol hit me and I tried to push him away but he only wrapped his arms around me stronger as he slammed the door shot behind him.

"Liam … let go…"

He didn't even listen to me one bit as he pushed me to the sofa and started to undress himself. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I tried to push him away but he only overpowered me more and more.

"Please, Liam. Let go of me." I pleaded but his ears were deaf to every one of my pleas as the only thing he had in mind was his intentions. I hated my life and the way I'm being treated.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as he had his way with me. And after a few forceful rounds, I fell unconscious.

I woke up the following morning feeling nauseous as I sang my feet down the bed. Surprisingly, for the first time, he brought me back to the room. For all these years, I have been in the living room.

Pain flowed through my foot as I stepped on my sprained ankle. I dragged myself into the bathroom and threw up everything I had in my stomach. I checked my temperature and it was normal…

It continued like that for a whole week and I finally decided to take the test I take every month which always turned out negative.

My heart pounded gently as I picked it up to check the results if it was good or bad. "I want you to know that no matter what, you will still be a mother," I said to myself in the mirror before picking up the pregnancy test strip to check the result.

I slipped to my knees as I saw the positive marks on the test strip. Tears rolled down my eyes as I looked down at it over and over again. I couldn't believe it. After all these years, I would finally be a mother.

Tears of joy streamed down my cheeks as I rushed out to tell Liam who was sitting comfortably on the sofa next to the stairs.

"Liam. We did it." I screamed and he looked at me with disgust.

"What is it this time?" He asked and I showed him the pregnancy test. "What's this trash?"

"I'm pregnant." I happily announced and he scoffed.

"That's impossible." He scoffed and the smile on my face disappeared. "This must be fake."

"What do you mean by that's impossible? I'm pregnant, with your child. Our child…"

"The only way you can be pregnant is if you cheat on me." He said and my heart sank.

"What do you mean by that? I've never known another man except you, Liam. How can you tell me I cheated on you." I said with pain in my chest.

"I don't know how this is possible, and I do not want to know. Get that thing out of your belly now or you are going to see hell." He threatened and tears filled my eyes.

"What do you mean? You want me to get rid of our child?" I asked with tears rolling down my cheeks.

"That thing is not my child. Unless you have somewhere else to go, disobey me." He said with anger.

"But I want this child, Liam. I've been waiting for five years now to have this child and I've given, finally and you want me to get rid of it? It will put my life in danger…"

"Do I look like I care? Look, I do not want a child from you. And that child is not mine, so get rid of it, or I will get rid of you two." He said, shoving me out of the way, and I lost my balance, falling down the stairs.

A sharp pain went through my stomach and I felt blood. "No…”
