"I won't let that happen," Sean said firmly. "And there's no point in speculating over things that won't happen! So stop being so sarcastic."

He didn't seem to be in any hurry to leave. It looked like he was determined to get a straight answer out of Angeline.

"If you think you can be with me without any prejudice when Melissa and Brian are dead, I can promise you that I can do the same. After all, if we're both going to do what we need… may the best man or woman win. I might not necessarily lose," Angeline said.

Sean scowled and tugged her to him. His warm breath fanned over her face as he snarled, "Melissa and Mr. Lane won't die!"
