Chapter 11 The Hen

The sound of a chicken clucking then sounded. Chris's face darkened. "What did you just hand me?"

Laura opened the bag and patted the hen inside. "It's just a chicken. The scooter's basket is filled with pots and pans. The chicken won't fit. You're going to have to hold it on the way back home. Don't worry. It's all tied up. All you have to do is to hold it tightly and it won't be able to hurt you."

Chris had never even held a chicken's feather let alone a live chicken.

However, ever since Laura appeared in his life, he would eat breakfast from a roadside stall and ride an electric scooter home. Now, he was even holding a chicken on the way home!

Chris's chest heaved up and down. Laura gave him a puzzled look. "What's wrong? What's up with the look on your face?"

"Nothing." Chris forced a smile on his face. He didn't want Laura to know what he was thinking, so he quickly sat in the passenger seat of the scooter. "Let's go. It's getting late. We should go home and get some rest."
