Chapter 20 Thrown Away

Chris nodded without hesitation.

The number he gave Laura last time was the one he gave outsiders. The number this time was his own private number.

After Chris left the house, Laura saved the new number. There was another hour before the furniture would arrive. Laura went for a nap on the bed.

In the afternoon, when Laura woke up, the delivery man arrived as well.

"Miss Walker, is the water vending alright here?" A worker placed the water vending against a wall before he reached out a hand to wipe the sweat off his face.

"That's fine, thank you." Laura thanked the worker politely and passed a couple of pieces of tissue over.

When all the furniture were in place, Laura passed a glass of water to each of the workers.

After seeing the workers off, Laura turned and looked inside the house. The house didn't look empty anymore and felt much warmer.

In the evening, Laura sent Chris a text asking him if he was coming home for dinner or not.
