The mention of Laura made Luke even more annoyed.

He reached out and massaged his temples. He then picked up his phone from the bedside table and called Jessica.

She seemed to be busy and only answered a while later.

"Hello, Jessica? Have you just woken up?" Luke's voice became soft when he was talking to Jessica. He seemed to be very careful as well. "Is our child alright? Please don't do anything stupid. Yeah, I'll be discharged this afternoon. I'll come find you then."

The two of them talked on the phone. Luke seemed to not want to hang up, but Jessica seemed to have just woken up, so he had no choice but to hang up.

After Luke hung up, Shona said, "Luke, you're hospitalized, but Jessica and her parents didn't say they were going to come and visit you?"

"Why the trouble? It's no big deal," said Luke. "Besides, Jessica's pregnant. The hospital is filled with the smell of chlorine. It isn't safe either. Why get Jessica to come?"

Shona could tell that Luke was defending Jessica,
