Sawyer, after having his heartbroken, returned to his usual cold self as at when he lost his Luna. Nobody dared stand against him or challenge him. Even George had to walk on needles around him. The training of the werewolves was intense. Never in their history had they been subjected to such arduous training. It was inhuman but there weren't humans among them after all, so who cares?
Everybody knew why the Alpha King subjected them to such strenuous training and dared not voice out any discomfort. This time, not only were they preparing for victory or loss, but for death. It's a complete win or die situation.
