The image of Chloe's crying face and Alexander's words followed me all the way to the garage. Had it not been for Nathan's call, I doubt I would have noticed him on time.

As I entered, a song was playing on the radio, yet the only thing I could think of were his words.

“Indispensable…”

“Hey,” I was suddenly brought out of my bubble. I looked up to find Nathan's furrowed expression.

“You’ve been out of space throughout the drive. Did something happen?” He asked.

‘What?’ I quickly noticed that the car had been turned off. The greenery of the surroundings told me that we were back.

Had I really spaced out for so long?

Turning back to him his expression seemed even more worried, his scar creasing.

Swallowing thickly, I shook my head in response,

“Nothing happened. Just feels strange being at work right now.”
