Not A Fragile Woman

Linda’s POV

I was trying my best to process Chris’s words but they just seemed surreal. Was he being serious? No, I did not think so. Maybe this was just a prank to see if I had healed; but that was the thing, I was not healed, not yet.

“Linda, it’s fine, she does not have to stay here,” He said as he kept his eyes on me.

I tried all that I could to avoid looking into his eyes, I knew that if I was going to do that, the tears that I was fighting so much to hold would just escape. “Nonsense,” I chuckled the word out, but it was forced even though I tried my best to make it sound as natural as possible.

Fallon looked up from her book, her eyes filled with empathy. I could tell that she did not want to involve herself, and that was why she kept burying her head deeply in her book. But she was, whether she liked it or not.

I wanted to hear what she had to say, I wanted to know how she felt about it all.

She scoffed faintly and locked eyes with me. “Are you sure this is what you want?
