The door was just away from me. I put down the phone, hesitant to take a step forward. She didn't like the vibe she got from the light knock at her door. Everything she had ever done until now was to keep herself sane. She laughed, cracked jokes, but she still had a black heart. The past she wanted so badly to forget was at the surface of her brain.

She wanted to rush there and lock the door. She was hoping it was David knocking, but when was the last time David knocked at her door. The man just walked in as if it were his room.

“I should stay here if it's Dave, then he'll go away,” I said to myself and walked to my bed and sat down. But I heard the knock again, and this time there was a turning of the doorknob. I jumped up from my bed, as fear washed over me and I paced around, not daring to open the door. I would rather not see Sebastian one bit. It was best that he stayed away from me.

I heard my heart in my hands as the turning of the knob continued. My heart raced rapidly
