Her voice was cracky, which proved she was crying.

“You must calm down, Loren, Chris will be okay.” I wiped my tears and sounded normal.

“He won't, you are only saying this to encourage me. What happens to me, Jess? What am I supposed to do for a year, how will I even survive without him?” she sobbed.

“He won't go in a coma for a year; he's going to be okay, he will wake up. Please stop crying,” I said as I walked to the kitchen. I saw a bottle of champagne earlier, one glass was going to be helpful.
