I was greeted by Mack the next morning. “You look exhausted. Are your nightmares getting worse?”
I just let my grin spread. “Nope, to have nightmares one has to be asleep!” I didn’t deny that I felt exhausted, but my body was still buzzing with the events of last night.
“Don’t tell me that you didn’t stay here last night, obsessing about this case?” Mack asked, concerned.
“Actually, I didn’t stay here, I had a date last night.” My face blushed.
Mack could not contain his shock. “Now not to do the whole overprotective brotherly thing…who is he and what does he do for a living and how come I haven’t heard about him until now?!”
I chuckled. “Buy me lunch and I will tell you everything you want to know.”
“Deal, now will you at least tell me his name?” I knew why he asked but couldn’t resist my grin.
“Fine, but don’t make a big deal about it, you have to promise.” Mack knew that I would not tell him anything until he promised.
Mack has a suspicious look in his eyes. “Why would I make a big deal about it?”
I wasn’t giving in. “Mack, you HAVE to promise or no name!”
He threw his hands up in surrender. “Fine I promise I won’t make a bid deal about it.” He said as he rolled his eyes.
“His name is Tucker, Dr. Tucker Gillian.” I beamed with pride and noticed that Mack was about to reneges on our deal about not making a big deal about it. “Mack, you have that look, remember you promised that you weren’t’ going to make a big deal about it.”
Mack tried, unsuccessfully, to look innocent. “What look are you talking about?”
“You know EXACTLY the look I’m talking about!” I said as I crossed my arms over my chest.
“I just wasn’t aware that you have been seeing a doctor. It’s good to see that you have a life…outside of work.” Mack sat back in his chair, a grin spreading across his face. “I just worry about you.”
I smiled knowingly at him. “Hey, you wanted to know his name.”
He nodded in agreement. “That is very true. So, what kind of a doctor is he?”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Nope, that’s all you get for now. You’ll have to wait until lunch for the rest.” As I walked away, I couldn’t help the blush that was slowly making its way from my face down to my neck as the images of last night replayed in my head! It felt good to finally be able to talk to Mack about him.
I will need to get some supplies before I start on my next project. Professor Evans thought to himself as he drove to work. I will need tape, rope, super glue… he never had to worry about forgetting what he needs because of years of mental challenges. He knew that he couldn’t’ afford to keep notes or any records of his acts, he always had to stay on guard. The only thing that has kept him from getting caught was his rule; leave no evidence behind. So far, it’s worked for him. He pulled off the main road and onto a dirt road he continued down the road for about a mile then passed through one of two gates that lead to Knightly Tanner College. The school was actually an old castle style stone building that used to house the insane. Some fifty years ago it was converted into a college, he found it somewhat soothing. The Dean of the school wanted to remodel the school, but the locals banded together in a stri
“Hello?” Dwight was perplexed when she answered the phone. The last he knew, his number was unlisted, and it couldn’t be a friend calling, he didn’t have any. So, who the fuck would be calling me? “Do you have any information yet?” “Xavier how did you get my number?” Dwight all but growled. “Dude, you have had the same number for years! Stop being so paranoid.” Xavier chuckled. Dwight couldn’t believe that he had remembered his number! Damn! Dude had an impeccable memory…looks like I’ll just have to change my number then! “It’s not safe to talk over the phone, how fast can you be here?” “How fast can you get to the front door?” Dwight hung up the phone while heading toward the front door, swearing the whole way. Only Xavier could piss him off this much! “You are a real asshole, you know that! Why didn’t you just tell me that you were at my front d
Mack and I didn’t want to be too far away from the station in case they caught a break, so they went to a quaint little café down the street. They had just sat down at a table near the entrance when the waitress came over. After ordering food and drinks, I turned my undivided attention to Mack. “So, what is it that you want to know?” Before either of us could talk, the waitress handed me my iced tea and almond poppy seed muffin, Mack, a slice of apple pie and a cup of hot coffee. Once he was sure that the waitress was out of hearing range, he asked me his first question. “What kind of a doctor is he; he’s not a Gynecologist is he? That would be way too much information to share with me if he is!” He shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “As for my second question, how did the two of you meet?” I just laughed. “No, he is not a Gynecologist, he’s a Veterinarian and we met in a parking lot.” Mack just looked at
While he prepared dinner, his guest was in the living room, where he made her wait. He couldn’t decide what wine to have with dinner, so he let the lady decide. “What kind of wine would you prefer to have?” “I normally don’t drink on school nights, but I’ll take some Merlot, if you have any.” Kamey actually preferred Scotch or Whiskey, but she wasn’t complaining. She really liked the Professor, he fascinated her. He was the only teach that didn’t finder her intriguing, or attractive, well until now. While she waited in the other room, he dipped the rim or her wine glass in a small amount of Ketamine. He didn’t want to rush making her unconscious, so he set the glasses aside, making sure that they were separated, and grabbed a bottle of Whiskey ant two shot glasses. Not likely that she needs alcohol to spread those legs of hers! He thought to himself as he let the Merlot breath before pouring it into their glass
For the first time, that I could remember, Mack didn’t wake me up before my alarm!! I was enjoying the quiet I quickly made myself some toast and a cup of coffee. I walked back over to the window and enjoyed the view. After I ate, I headed to the kitchen and was about to put my dishes in the sink when my cell rang. So much for a peaceful morning! “Hello?” “We caught a break in the case! Hurry up and get your ass down to the station.” Mack excitedly says. Finally! We were one step closer to catching this sick son-of-a-bitch! “Ill be there in ten minutes.” I was so jazzed about the news that I showered, dressed and headed out the house in seven minutes. This must be some new world record! As I flew down the stairs to the garage, I pulled my keys out of my jacket pocket and unlocked the 2007 Chevy Tahoe that I bought with the inheritance that my father left me. I turned on
Xavier couldn’t believe what he was hearing! He thought that he had gotten rid of Brent Cummings years ago. Either he was back, or Dwight make a mistake, but doubtful. Xavier thought to himself. He had always known that brent was a little off his rocker, but to commit these types of murders he had to be insane! How was he seducing very successful, independent women? He had never been good looking and women now a days, want young, attractive men. Brent was in his twenties when Sierra’s father was killed, he should be pushing his fifties by now! Xavier was trying to wrap his head around this information, but not doing a very good job of it.Dwight pulled him out of his thoughts. “You really are from the stone ages, aren’t you?” He asked, exasperated. “There is such a thing as cosmetic reconstructive surgery!”Xavier hadn’t realized that he h
For some reason, the police purposefully left out the fact that a locket was found at the crime scene and no other artifact was found at the first crime scene. The God of Torture knew that because the locket had sentimental value to Sierra, she was the reason that the locket wasn’t mentioned in the news. Granted he had added a personal touch posing Sheila Andercroft, an up-and-coming defense attorney for the state of Oregon. One thing that he acknowledged was that he loved to toy with his prey. The more he thought about it the more he regretted not displaying his first victim, Vicci. He found her roaming the dark alleyways between Main Street and Andes Blvd. She was his first mercy killing; even though he tortured her she never cried out or cringed in fear. She seemed to welcome the sweet release from the life she lived, he almost felt bad for her…almost. He had always been pleased with all the artwork he displayed, or a
There was no telling what Brent Cummings looked like now, too much time has passed. Mack and Sierra needed to get a photo circulated through the station and throughout the media, but so far, they had no ideas. “We could get a couple photos with different descriptions circulated.” Mack was getting exasperated. “Anything has got to be better than nothing!”“What descriptions, his hair could be a different color, length or he could even be bald. He could have had facial reconstructive surgery; the list goes on! There are just way too many differences.” I wasn’t trying to purposefully be negative, but they all needed to face the facts that this was getting to be just about impossible. “I think that what we need is to call it a night and regroup in the morning, we’ll have fresh eyes and cleared minds.”Mack nodded in agreement; they had headed out the d
