A Ring

Driving, we stay quiet. My mind won’t leave me alone. Nearly at university, he smiles.

“Are you sure you want to do this? You really don’t need to. When we are married everything I have is yours. It already is anyway.”

“Yes, Jackson, even if I don’t need it, I would like to finish and pass and have accomplished the goals I set for myself,” I explain. He just smiles back. I need something for just me.

“Okay, one stop before we get there.” We pull up to an old-looking shop and walk inside. The man looks at Jackson and smiles.

“She said yes.” The man's voice is quiet.

“She did, indeed. Is it ready?” He guides me to the counter, and I look confused. The shop is for antiques, beautiful furniture and at a very high price tag as well. You wouldn’t think it, looking at the outside though. The man walks back through, a smile on his face as he hands Jackson a box.

Jackson turns to me and opens it, taking out the ring. “To make it official,” he gets on one knee and slides the ring on my finger.
