Chapter 19

Shadow gives out the result of his interrogation work by telling Gary and Joan that the idea of taking up Brainer's surname as their own was initiated by a mysterious person ten years ago.

"Axel and Jasmine's real surname is Forendeu. They lived in an orphanage that was about to be disbanded because of insufficient funds. Mr. Forendeu has no recollection of that mysterious person's appearance. He only remembers the part where he and his sister could continue living with enough money."

"Thank you for your hard work/Good job, Shadow." Both Gary and Joan express their gratitude for Shadow's work.

There is no single plan coming to Gary's head, and this makes him feel uneasy. He gulps some whiskey in the hope of regaining his sharpness.

On the other hand, Joan is busy thinking of an excuse for the later appointment with other elders.

"Shadow, how many elders are left after Raisen's death if we exclude you, myself, and Light?"
