VALERIA

The moment Dimitri opened the door of his office, he made a beeline for the elevators. I had been standing at the entrance of my office since the time for the official close of work minutes ago, and had been expecting him to make such a move.

"Wait," I called after him.

He glanced at me, but didn't slow down. He began to walk even faster and I almost had to run to keep up.

"I need to talk to you," I said again.

"It can wait," he said sharply.

I gritted my teeth in anger. This was typical Dimitri. He just wanted to be the one giving out orders, and didn't want anyone to question him.

"No, it can't. Just wai-"

But he had already stepped into the elevator. The doors were closing. I put out my foot. It got between the steel doors. I felt a little pain as it compressed my foot, then the doors opened again and I hurried in. Before they shut, I saw Sasha looking in curiously, her face immediately tightening in anger when she saw I was alone with Dimitri.

"What was it you did today?"
