In between

Episode 6.

Few days passed and the distance kept between Emma from Julian was a void. He often times tried to meet and explain things to her but none of it mattered to her, all she seemed to think of at his sight was his monstrous transition and savagery attempt on her life. At a point, Julian showed up at her residence and was so not welcomed by Daniel and even Abel. Especially Daniel, he was so unkind and threatened to attack him if he stayed a bit longer.

One evening, just as many days as Emma drive through the forest, this time she was suddenly hit from beside by an angry rhino. She lost control of the moving car, and the tires from the side where it was hit barely touched the ground as it lifted to fall over. Just as she gave up all hope, there was her 'knight in shiny armor' Julian. He from the other side supported the car from falling over and the force and weight which it lifted with, pushed and forced him back till he supported his leg on a tree, and it finally stopped and back to the ground as normal. However the call door was jammed so he ripped open the door and helped her out. She only had exposed dizziness but felt nothing other than that.

Suddenly, they spotted the rhino across the road and it instantly ran, and Julian could see a wound beside it's rib, possibly inflicted by sharp claws, just the same as he cut the panther on the night of full moon.

"Were you following me?" Emma instantly asked unpleasantly.

"You're welcome by the way," he turned and replied.

"Oh spare me that, I should thank you for trying to eat me the other night?"

"I wasn't trying to eat you, I don't eat people."

"Right, kill me then," she said and gave him her back.

"For the past few days I've been trying to explain this to bu. . ."

"I don't wanna know," she vigorously turned. "All I want is for you to fucking stay away from me, for good!"

He stared at her for a while then said, "Right, just watch out, Emma," he headed for the forest.

She however made to get in her car but the condition of it was critical and awful, not to talk of what just happened and her isolation in the middle of the forest. Thus, she hastily turned and desperately looked around for Julian but she saw him nowhere.

"Julian!" She called out of fear.

"I didn't go anywhere," he said moving from the cover of a tree.

"You're one stubborn monster.. I thought I told you to stay away?" she exclaimed taking a relief.

"Don't you have anything to say?" he asked.

  "Take me with you, please."

He further perched her on his back and made for the forest.

"Promise not to eat me?" she said.

"Hang on tight," he said made high leap from the surface and almost at helm of the trees, and further he kept on to it, making an impression and fun out of it.

On the roof top of Castles building Julian and Emma rested, after the forest swing.

"You said you had an explanation for me," she raised. "Now will be cool."

"Thought you didn't wanna know," he said staring at her in the face as she sat beside him, firmly holding his arm from fear of falling.

"Well, I did some few research after that night I think I know what you are, a werewolf. But how, were you born this way?"

He heaved a sigh and stood up, removing his arms from her grasp, nevertheless, she didn't fought to keep it but let go as well, probably less conscious of her earlier fear.

"I wasn't born like this, nor William," he said. "Our parents were Castle and Magdalene."

"Wait a minute," she rouse anxiously. "You mean the founder of Shade was your father?"

  "Exactly," he replied softly.

"Wait, that means you don't age, not a bit?"

  He shook his head.

"A werewolf, prey to full moon," she lamented solo. "But how come your brother William wasn't in transition that night?"

"He's a vampire, we both are immortals."

A brief silence stroke between them as she strangely stared at him with fallen lips.

  "V-vampire? They exist?" She asked.

  "Yeah," he smiled.

"No wonder your brother's body is usually cold and I hardly see him," she wondered about. "The sunlight keeps him indoors," she suddenly quit moving. "But the movies, werewolves and vampires are usually enemies, and how comes you two are so cool together? Brothers even."

"The year was 1767, September actually," He began. "William had gone for hunting since morning and by nightfall he wasn't yet back. And I sought out to look for him, I knew where sometimes he stayed before returning back home, but never stayed overnight. I went deep into the forest, yet couldn't find him, not even where he usually stayed at. I gave up hope and headed back to the village, from distance, I heard cries and screams of people randomly, so I ran, rushed back on to see people running around aimlessly, crying out for a monster. Before I could noticed, I was forcefully pulled into the forest, and there was this monster on me, I quickly stabbed it with my knife but it instead went for my neck. And then it was off me, my mom with her magic had rescued me. Out of all the attacked, I only survived but I was long in sleep, when I woke my brother had already returned. But William was never the same, for our mother was working tirelessly on him than I, he too was made while on hunt, but no one knew how, he never spoke of it. Our mother knew what we had become, and kept William indoors working on several spells to help him, until the next full moon, I turned and killed people before my mother could get to me and restrain me with her magic. And the people saw, the villagers accused her of witchcraft and turning us into monsters. All these were on while our father was away, and the very night he returned, he and our mother were murdered in the village square, but I and William escaped."

A tear dropped down his cheek and Emma reached and wiped it off with her  thumb.

"I'm sorry," she consoled. "But history says your parents both died of an epidemic disease that stroke the village in the same year, 1767."

"That's bullshit!" he moved away from her. "They were stoned to death, a few days after we returned at night to see their graves outside the village. Our mother was a strong white witch, she would've just destroyed them all with just the wave of her hand or brightness, but she didn't, nor did our father fought back, they let them."

His words were filled with bitterness and his rage was obviously rising and she could see it in his eyes, so she held his hand and made him sit, deeply consoling him.

"So was there any interesting thing about your childhood I should know?" She required.

He stared at her and scoffed.

"Our mother was a white witch, and so was I, not entirely but I had just a gift" he said.

  "Wow!" She marvelled happily. "William?"

"It's randomly inherited, especially by the female children, but miraculously I did a bir, but not William. It's normal. Even when I became a werewolf, my ability of spotting a supernatural when I touch the person remained."

"That's crazy," she chuckled. "So am I?"

He gave her that look that gave her all hopes that he was going to reply positive, so she kept staring at him curiously, patiently waiting.

"No, you're not," he said after a while of silence.

The look on her face revealed disappointment, because being a supernatural was what at that moment she hungered for, especially after her immediate knowledge of supernaturals.

"So, how strong are you?" She diverted, to steer away the possible notice of her dejection.

"Strong, but not up to an alpha."

  "Alpha, what are you then?"

"Omega, alphas are the strongest, and they glow blue eyes, faster, stronger, sensitive."

"How is an alpha made and Omega?"

"When you're bitten by an alpha on the night of first full moon of the year and you survive, then you become an alpha. But it's rare and difficult, because werewolves are more powerful on first full moon and people hardly survive their attack, plus the power the first moon has. Omegas can be made anytime, even on subsequent full moons."

"Wow!" She exclaimed. "And you were attacked on subsequent full moon?"

"No," he replied and faced her. "I was made under a blood moon, and that made me an omega, but better than omegas."

"Wait, you mean you're stronger than an omega but not up to an alpha, like in-between?"

  He nodded.

"Wow! What a scintillating moment you two are having," William commended, just joining them up the roof.

  "William," she greeted.

"Emma," he responded and walked to her.

"You served nothing to our guest," he turned to Julian. "How rude of you, brother," back to Emma. "Would you want wine, Emma?"

  "No thanks," she expressed disgust.

"Your turn then, what do you have for me?"

She rouse up, facing him in challenge and replied, "That sounds like a threat to my neck and what runs through it. Breaking news, I'm not afraid of you, I'll stab you with my pencil, in the freaking heart."

  "Is that so?"

He immediately snarled at her with his fangs and bloody red glowing eyes and she screamed and tripped from the roof down. And of course, in he, William's arms she still landed in. Julian also joined them down and she quickly dashed to him in trepidation.

"That was fast, how?" She asked.

"One of the privilege of being my kind," William said widely grinning.

"Time to go home Emma," Jillian said and swept her off her feet to his arms.

  "Affirmative, time to go indeed."
