Luna's heart raced as Asher poured out his feelings for her, but as she listened, a heavy weight settled in the pit of her stomach. She knew that their love was real, but there were obstacles standing in their way that she couldn't ignore.

"Asher," Luna began, her voice trembling slightly, "I... I appreciate your honesty, but I don't think we can be more than friends."

Asher's face fell, disappointment flashing in his eyes. "Is there someone else?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Luna shook her head, her eyes filled with regret. "No, it's not that," she explained. "There are just... things in my past that I haven't told you about. Things that would make it impossible for us to be together."

Asher reached out and gently cupped Luna's face in his hands, his eyes searching hers for answers. "Luna, whatever it is, we can face it together," he insisted, his voice filled with determination.
