An Experiment

Keeping her hands off of Beau on the way home was difficult, but Mia managed to stay content just holding his hand until they pulled up in front of his mansion. He left the car sitting outside in the circle drive and rushed around to open the door for her. It seemed as if he was doing his best to stay calm, but he was clearly in just as much a hurry as she was.

Beau led her upstairs, but not to his bedroom. Instead, he took her further down the hall and paused outside of another bedroom door. Mia raised an eyebrow as he placed his hand on the doorknob and turned to look at her.

“I didn’t try to create a space like his. But I thought it might be best if this place was separate from my bedroom.”

Mia nodded in understanding, noting he didn’t seem capable of saying Sam’s name at the moment. Keeping this place of exploration separate from where they made love, where he held her in his arms, where he’d first said he loved her, made sense to her. Slowly, Beau opened the door.
