It Was Him

The next day, Fenris awoke to the sun hitting his face. He brought his arm over his eyes to block out the light, slowly stretching his limbs to get the leftover sleep out of his system.

‘A new day, huh. Here’s to hoping for good things to happen,’ he hoped.

Fenris glanced to the side, where he found Christen with her back turned to him, still asleep. Going by her breathing, from what he could tell, she seemed to be out of her nightmare now. Though for all he knew, it could just be his wishful thinking. Still, he did hope that was the case with her.

He caught the faint sound of birds chirping outside and looked out the window, where he could see a pair at a nest. One look at their lively attitude, and he could feel his instincts acting up, with his mouth watering.

‘It does feel like it’s been a while since I last hunted,’ he realized, getting up to his feet, when he felt a slight chill. He looked down on himself, and saw that he had at some point shifted back into his human form in hi
