  "I heard all your conversations!"

  Baymont had just stepped out of the room on his front foot when Sagon jumped in from outside the open window on his back foot.

  Evelyn had only just gone out and returned to see Sagon back in one piece - think of him taking Evelyn's instructions in stride and secretly eating many of the palace attendants while she was away, arousing Baymont's suspicions in the process.

  Despite having regrown his stump, Sagon still looked much thinner than before, his face paler and his jaw thinner, except for those turquoise eyes that remained bright as if they had flames burning in them when he looked at Evelyn.

  Sagon stared at Evelyn with burning eyes and asked, "So you still want Baymont, right? Do you want Baymont more than me?"

  His barrage of pressed questions bordered on aggressive, but the usual surly demeanor in Sagon had disappeared long ago when he'd been corralled like a dog.
