A strong odor caused my eyes to water. What is that? I thought to myself. Is something on fire? Looking away from me Brax answered my question as if he was reading my thoughts.
“Cinder and ash. Compliments of the residents from hell.” Brax then turned to look at me. “Didn’t you ever smell it when you were around him?” I shook my head. “Ah, even more proof that he wanted to hide what he really was to you. Now he is letting it all hang out.” My entire body was shaking. Was it fear? I would never let myself admit that. How did things change so quickly between Drake and I.?
