Chapter 39: And Then There Was Light Part 2

I woke up to the sound of whimpers and shudders. I looked ahead, and I saw Caleb sweating and fighting something invisible, all while sinking his fingers on the couch. I ran to him and kneeled at his side, trying to wake him up, shaking him softly. His hand released the sofa but clasped on my wrist and I gasped at the pain.

I shook him gently again while whispering his name. "Caleb? wake up... is just a nightmare..." I tried to move my arm away but he tightened his grip on me harder. "Caleb!" I cried and his eyes opened wide. I instantly reached his face with my free hand and caressed his sweat away trying to soothe him. "It was only a nightmare... relax... I am here..."

"Meadow..." he whispered my name and pulled me to him as he breathed heavy and fast. "I thought I had lost you..." He breathed in my neck and I caressed his back trying to help him calm down.
