Chapter 38- A Mother's Pain

It was the following day and Aria had gained consciousness just after six in the morning. Adrian had spent the night by her bedside, holding her hand and gently stroking her face and hair. He didn’t know how he was going to tell her that one of the twins didn’t make it.

“You’re awake” he said to her quietly, the sound of relief clear in his slightly deep voice.

Aria looked up at him and then down at herself, thinking she had slept for a very long time it seemed. Adrian gently pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly,

“Forgive me for my carelessness beautiful, I should have never left you” he said quietly as he held her close and kissed her on the top of her head softly. Aria hugged him back, although she felt like she had no energy.

“I’m glad to have you back” she said with a small smile, as she felt a sharp pain to the side of her stomach and remembered everything had happened last night.

Adrian moved a little back from her and looked down at her with a serious look,
