I closed my eyes and dismissed Andrew's words, then turned to the nurse who was about to leave. "Change her clothes."

The nurse did not dare to say much, went out to find clothes, and quickly returned.

I turned away, glanced at Elias, and he shrugged and looked out the window.

Suddenly, the nurse covered her mouth in the quiet space and shouted. "Oh my god, I can't believe it!"

I looked over, and I wish I hadn't. My heart clenched as if someone was squeezing it. I breathed hard as I stared at her back. There are full of wounds; although it is old, the severe scars will forever not disappear.

I knew the slave life was terrible, and I didn't think it was this bad.

It's hard to imagine how many times she was beaten to leave these scars. But why didn't I see it last time? Was she intentionally hiding it?

"She is pitiful!" Elias said quietly.

I glared at him, coldly asking. "Do you believe I gouge your eyes out?"

My extreme reaction surprised Elias; he quickly turned away and shyly said. "
