Chapter 89 "To Face The Truth"

Third Person’s POV

Lawrence and Maxine engaged in a game of chess.

Maxine made her move, strategically maneuvering her black knight.

On the other side of the board, Lawrence had just finished moving his white pawn.

Their eyes met, and they exchanged smiles. The game continued as Maxine moved her white bishop to a position perpendicular to Lawrence's queen, posing a threat to his powerful piece.

"I have a plan to stay close to her," Maxine whispered.

Lawrence shifted his queen three steps to the north. "You said they might come after you for switching sides. So why put yourself in danger?"

"It's better to keep an eye on her than to do nothing. Even without me, they might send others to harm her. At least I can help protect her when she's away from your sight." Maxine's white knight took down Lawrence's queen.

"Damn," Lawrence muttered under his breath as he lost his valuable piece. He made his move with the dark horse, strategically positioning it in an L shape towards Maxine's white K
