I heard him sigh before he took my hands and pulled me up. My gaze was dazed, unable to focus on him in that moment. I felt his intense stare burning into the side of my face as he tried to decipher what was troubling me. Another deep sigh escaped his lips, and he gently slid his arms under me, lifting me up.

He placed me in the center of his room before returning to retrieve my clothes and a towel. He wiped away the water droplets from my skin, and I simply stared at him, feeling a numbness spreading through me. I felt empty inside.

The only sensation I experienced was anxiety, which was enough to bring out my worst. His eyes pierced my soul, and I felt insecure under his gaze. His finger slipped under my chin, tilting my head upward so he could meet my eyes. But I kept my gaze fixed on the corner of the room, and he leaned down, planting a kiss on my jaw.

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach, even though I still felt emotionally drained. I expected him to hand me my clothes
