Chapter 9
Adler woke up with the scent of spices tickling his nose like a pungent finger poking into his nostrils. He opened his eyes and indulged in the strong, spicy scent of spices but not too spicy that it hurts his nostrils, it was just mildly tangy and pleasantly aromatic that it comforts his stinging anterior naris and oozingly strong that he can almost taste it in his mouth, particularly his tongue. The fragrance made his stomach growl. His headache was gone but his head still a little heavy, and the swirling dizziness, which he often likened to a fish being twisted and twirled by the roaring ocean’s waves was gone while his muscles that were too heavy to boot earlier felt a lot better, but the stinginess still remained.
Driven by the spices’ scent, he somehow felt nostalgic when the spices’ fragrance invaded his nostrils, it was a scent that he had
Chapter 10 The shower he had was refreshing and he felt reborn, Adler left the glass shower with a satisfied smile on his face and a towel tightly hanging on his waist, accompanied with steam and heat from the glass enclosures. He was about to grab his other towel to dry his wet, dark hair speedily dripping endless tiny droplets but then realized that he had given it to his fiancée earlier because she was cold, and he had nothing else to think of giving her. Deciding to dry his unruly tresses with the spare towel he had in his closet, he left the bathroom to get it. When he finally did, he closed his closet and looked at the view outside his room’s large windowpane and noticed that the rain had already stopped but the same dark grey cumulonimbus clouds remained. The sound of his phone ringing stopped him abruptly from indulging himself in staring at the vie
Chapter 11 “What’s wrong?” Her eyes widened once again as if she was wondering how he figured out that she wanted to say something but instantly recovered then asked, “How was it? Ah—gosh, nevermind that I asked,” she said but he kept staring at her while taking another bite and chewing the food that caused her flushing face to grow redder. “I-I… gosh, it’s just that when people eat food that I cook, I tend to get nervous as if it was Gordon Ramsay himself was eating it, and I fear they might not like it.” He was relieved that he had already swallowed his food as he couldn’t prevent himself from chuckling lightly and it made the woman beside him became more embarrassed. “Don’t be, I’m no Michelin star achieving chef. I’m only your fi—” he stopped midway when realized that he was about to address himself as her fiancé. “Your ordinary office guy, and
Chapter 12“Cough! Ack!” upon hearing her question, Adler immediately coughed as his throat constricted in surprise with the lump of food he just chewed, starting to choke. His fiancée’s eyes widened in surprise that her eyeballs almost jumped off, but she immediately went into action and handed him his glass of water which he gladly accepted and drank all of its content in full haste. He coughed and cleared his throat a few times before finally speaking, “That sure isquitepersonal.”“I shouldn’t have asked,” she instinctively hid her hands below the counter and rested them on her lap again, he figured that she was going to fiddle her thumbs again. “Is it the Britishquiteor the Americanquitethough?” she asked, and he thought that her question was comical that he wanted to l
Chapter 13As time ran fast unexpectedly like how sand cascades down from the upper bulb to its connected lower bulb and just as the cold, crisp dawn quickly transcended into a prickly afternoon that then turned into the beauteously lingering evening, the hours have turned into days and the days turned into weeks, Adler had been observing Carylle for three weeks and it wasn't enough for him to know all about her. Of course, he knows that it takes time to know one person but the progress he was expecting to ensue fast was actually happening at a snail's pace that makes him feel damned. In those very three weeks ever since she moved in with him, he would never leave his house without eating a sumptuous breakfast along with fresh, hot coffee and sleep at night without skipping dinner. When he started living by himself, he tends to take his meals lightly and often skips them especially when he's tired or
Chapter 14"You know that I'm engaged to a random stranger since I was born, right?"She nodded fervently, her hands running across the fabric of his clothes as if her fingers were finding something on his chest. "Yup.""That random person just came to my doorstep yesterday," he then said as he pressed the cigarette between his thin lips to take in another smoke, looking away from her."Hm," he heard her moan as her fingers stopped doing their work on his chest then silence followed, lasting for moments. "Does that mean it's the end for us?" she finally spoke in a small, cracking voice that made Adler stop looking away and face her. He noticed that her face was crumpling that not even a piece of paper could imitate and her sharp, phoenix eyes held an emotion that he couldn't tell.He opened his mouth to
Chapter 15 "Adler, son?" realizing it was his mother, Adler almost jumped on his seat. "Yes, ma?" he asked, meanwhile, Elis, who was standing right in front of him, a few inches away from his desk was busying herself pulling her top up, holding them by their upper hem and wiggling the fitted cloth pulling it up her rich, curvaceous breasts that then, in turn, jiggle and bounce stupendously. It was as if she was putting on a show with him as her only audience. Vehemently taking his assigned role, Adler stared at her in daze while she was continued her show, now pulling her top and wiggling slowly as if she was tempting him. She suddenly turned her eyes on him, catching him scrutinizing her then smirked and that was when he lost it. She really was tempting him! "Have you eaten lunch?" his mother asked while he glared at the tantalizing woman who was distracting him by just putting on her clothes then closed his eyes shut and fo
Chapter 16 Today's work was hard, after the call with his mother, Adler's office was soon then invaded by his secretary carrying a stack of paperwork, and he had no other choice but to spend the rest of the entire day finishing them, not to mention he had to attend his pending meetings, make and receive urgent phone calls as well inspect every department in the building himself. He also needed to directly monitor the company's preparation for its anniversary that was coming near, especially that they were going to do a surprise product launch for the consumers. He was going hard on himself to make ends meet. He didn't want to disappoint his grandfather's hard work. Not to mention that he lost his energy and vigor earlier because of the phone call, making things worse. Pressing on the gas pedal hard and his eyes focusing on the familiarly boring road that leads to his house, and the mirrors to check for the v
Chapter 17 "Fine, whatever you say, Sir," she said, going with the flow while a small giggle left her lips as she went the other way to open the shotgun seat. A nanosecond later, the entire car was occupied with a faint, soft vanilla scent. Adler figured that it was her perfume. As it wafted over the opening of his nostrils like a vixen faintly playing, tempting, he found it refreshing, compared to Elis' intoxicating perfume that he defined as desire's smell that would always make him catch his breath. "You've got a soft-smelling perfume," he complimented, wanting for the tender fragrance to last for a while as she sat comfortably on the shotgun seat and putting her bag on her lap. "Oh," she gasped as her cheeks slightly rose its temperature. "It's a body mist." "Oh, I see. I apologize for not recognizing that," he said with the same smile earlier as he stepped on the gas pedal at the same time, swerve the steering wh
