Shamsiya frowned, and rudely yanked out her hands of the stranger's grasp. Taking back a few steps, she stared him down with a dissatisfied expression. "Excuse me Mr. whoever you are, but I don't believe I know you." She spat, and glared angrily at her scumbag husband. "Is this another one of your buyers? Did you already sell me off before I even returned?"

"What? No!" Nick was flabbergasted. "Didn't you recognize him? He's Bennet Fecker!" Sell her off? To Bennet Fecker? This man was clearly her high school standby lover. How could he...

He stilled, then narrowed his eyes. His wife's eyes were filled with confusion, and she looked at him as if he lost his mind.

"Bennet Fecker...and I'm supposed to know him...how exactly?"

She didn't know him. Truly and absolutely didn't know him.

Nick heard a ring in his ears. He fell back a step as his friend's words from last week resurfaced in his mind.
