" Ummm," I groaned in a throbbing pain in my shoulder. I felt like someone had ripped my arm from its sockets .

" You are awake," I heard Maria say while looking at her tablet.

" Don't try to sit up yet, I need to know you are functioning well before you do that," she said, looking at me with a warm smile and concern full of eyes. I nodded and laid on the bed. She turned around to grab something from the table. I averted my gaze and looked at the ceiling. All the events flashed before my eyes, making me inhale a sharp intake of breath.

The last thing I remember was I heard the conversation of the man that I called father all these years. I closed my eyes to calm myself down.

" Where is he?" I asked in a whisper.

" Huh?" Maria turned around to look at me.

" I wasn't there when those stupid things happened. I am sorry for what you have been through," she said, with sadness and concern.
