Chapter 68: You Needed Me

BLADE stared at the blood dripping on my neck. He cussed and dropped the dagger before walking out on me. He slammed the door closed.

I leaned on the wall and breathed heavily. I had no idea how long I stood there while staring blankly at the door. I only forced myself to move when I heard my phone ring. It was Chester.

I picked up the phone on the bedside table and went to the balcony before answering the call. My voice was still hoarse when I said, “Yes?”

“Your majesty, it’s me. I know you would hate it if I link with you, that's why I decided to just call instead.”

“I’m not in the kingdom anymore. You can call me by my name now, Chester.”

“As you wish. So… how have you been, Kat?”

A sad smile curled my lips. It had been a while since I last heard my nickname. “You called to ask me that at four in the morning? Really?”

He laughed as if he got embarrassed but then he asked, “Are you okay?”
