It all made sense why the man was so similar to Chaol now. His movements, his choice of words, his laugh, his traits. Everything about him resembled Chaol and only a fool could deny it.

“Tenth moonchild. What is he trying to say, milord?” Lana asked him, completely bamboozled. “I… don’t understand. I’ve seen this man many times inside the castle for the span of many years that I have served you, and yet deep inside me, I know he wasn’t you. What is this feeling that I’m having..?”

“He is what he had said.” Chaol answered. “He is me and I am him. He is the last persona of the previous moonchild that I am.”

Chaol lowered his head. “My… tenth self.”

Asty’s throat became dry. She reached for Chaol’s hands but they were cold and shaking. “C-Chaol…”
