Chapter 128: Adelaide.

“Wake up.”

I know this can’t last forever.

“I said wake up!”

But do I have to be woken up this way?

My eyes snap open just in time to find Lyros heaving, his bare chest rising and falling as rivulets of sweat roll down.

It’s bad for me to find him sexy right? I just woke up from sleep and despite the uniform sprinkle of dark hair I can see on his chest and chin, he killed someone.

It sounds silly, the fact that I'm going for that, but the librarian did nothing to him. And now he’s here, his nose flaring, his chest heaving, my bleary eyes almost slam shut as I stare at him but I force them open.

My bones feel liquid and my body feels well-rested.

It’s surprising what grief-filled sleep will do to you.

When Lyros glares at me again, I take the blanket I used to cover myself, hold it tighter against my chest, and get up from the bed.

I make sure to cover myself adequately before I walk away and the first place I head to is the bathroom.

I reek.
