Chapter 3: Lyros.

She's useless.

That's the first thing i notice about her.

Expending all that energy just to run away but never actually getting away. It's like she expected her capture before setting out and she waited for it patiently, like a good little weakling.

"Any thoughts on how long this one is going to last before you kill her?"

Cain is a lanky silver blond-haired presence beside me, and the only one who can talk to me without wetting himself. I appreciate that about him, so I reply when he speaks.

"It'll depend on how well she performs."

I hear his breath catch.

"You want to fuck her first?"

There is slight disgust in his tone and I turn to face him.

"Is that displeasing to you Cain?"

"She's an omega!"

"And I'll do what I want to do. Am I clear?"

There is a note of unbridled anger in my voice and I know Cain hears it too. His mesmerizingly beautiful silver eyes turn away from mine and he clears his throat as he adjusts his posture.

"Yes Lord Lyros."

The room suddenly feels too stuffy and my head feels too filled.

Some would argue that Lycans and werewolves are one and the same, but we aren't. I believe there's a reason we have all the special abilities that they don't .

The most obvious one is that they're weak. Having an omega as a first child shows the weakness of the Brairwolf pack to its fullest.

Another reason is that they're foolish, horny, degenerates who shouldn't be made to breathe the same air as me.

That's why I visit a pack every year, and I pick a new bride from that pack.

I kill my brides right after our small wedding.

To show them all that I'm the monster they can't beat and the evil they aspire to be.

"Lord Lyros, Alpha Bruce says he's ready."

The young guard is at the door and I see the way his eyes skirt over Cain for the briefest moment before turning away. My subordinate is giving him the sort of glare that would kill and oddly that makes me chuckle.

I stand up, walk over to the door, and give the guard a sound slap.

He takes it with grace, how all my warriors would and even as his eyes tear up, he looks straight ahead, his eyes never daring to meet mine.

"Refer to that piece of trash as Alpha again and I'll have your head."

He nods.

"I apologize Lord Lyros."

I walk off and leave Cain to deal with whatever it is he has with the guard.

The walk down the stairs and into the main living room has me holding back nausea. This place reeks of werewolves, and death, but underneath all that I can smell something else.

Something that makes me walk a bit slower.

My sense of smell is better than that of any wolf, so I can detect it no matter how faint it is. Heavy in some parts and subtle in others. The smell of sunlight and sadness.

It leaves a warm-sad feeling in my belly and as I exit the entrance to the Alpha's suite, I see the origin of that scent.

She's bound, with tears streaming down her face and wide eyes filled with terror as she looks at me.

A faint smirk lines the side of my lips.

She's finally caught on then, which is good.

I like it when my reputation precedes me.

"Get her into the car."

The guard beside me nods and moves towards the bound girl but she starts shaking her head and crying violently, looking to her parents for help which they will never give and for kindness which they are incapable of showing.

"I'll be leaving now Alpha Bruce. You take care."

Bruce is either too scared to speak or too mad to do so but his face is red and his jaw is locked tight.

I feel like taking that jaw and breaking it into bits, but that's not in line with my plan. Picking up this little plaything is though and with that having been achieved, I can finally leave.

I pass by many wolves on my way out of the Alpha's home and all of them have the same look on them.

Their faces look ashen and there's confusion rolling off them in waves. They want to call me out on the dead girl they have in their pack now but they can't.

Sleeping with your son's girlfriend is one thing, but that girl trying to mess with my property is another.

I'm a Lycan king, and for some reason this one intrigues me. I intend to find out why before I kill her.

"Jason stop!"

The shout comes from behind but I keep on walking. I feel the push of air that comes with the punch some dead man has directed at me and I move at the last moment. In the flick of an eye I have my hand around his neck and his legs are a few inches off the ground.

My voice comes out cold and humorless.

"Who owns this dog?"

Bruce appears a moment later and his eyes widen at what he sees.

"Lyros, please put the boy down. That's my son."

"How old is he?"

The whole room is silent and I hear a few growls coming out around me. I chuckle and tighten my hold around the youngster's neck.

"I asked a question mutts, and I expect an answer. How old is the foolish dog?"

"Stop calling my son a dog Lyros! He's the future of the pack!"

My eyes widen a bit as I hear who speaks and I smile. Finally, someone with enough balls to say something.

Jannette Briar is a beautiful she-wolf with curves like a greek goddess. Maybe that's why she gave birth to such a pretty daughter, but unluckily for her....

"That's not the answer to the question I asked."

A loud crack fills the air and the body of the boy in my hand goes slack.

I release him and he lands with a thud.

Something strange strikes me as I turn back to walk out of the house and into my car.

He didn't struggle when I had my grip around his neck. He didn't kick his legs, neither did he try to shake or scream. He was already in tears before he came down the stairs and the punch he directed towards me had just been a foolish move.

When someone is set on death, they do not shy away from it.

Was he looking to die in the first place?

I sneer as I settle into my seat properly.

In a way he's like me, but I'm not intent on dying. Instead I'd like life instead.

The power to bring someone I love back to life to be specific, because even if she is dead........... my heart will forever remain with her.
