Watching Damien drink a glass of water, it dawned on Belle she'd had nothing to drink or eat since the energy drink before the bus journey.
"Aww, are you thirsty?" the observant boy cooed with false sympathy. "Come here."
Her scabbed knees burned from friction against the rug as she crawled over to him.
"Open your mouth," he demanded before taking a giant sip. He leaned forward and spat a steady stream of tepid water into her mouth.

Jess searched for a bell or a knocker before making a fist and pounding on the wood.
