I take Tate’s hand and pull him behind me as we move quietly through the night. Two days ago, when we were moving to the next hotel, I saw them. The Whitmore brothers. I had intended to head back to the city after Emlyn killed Gwen, but Rich said there was a meeting the next morning and he wanted me to stay, just in case. When I called Maeve, I got her voicemail. Later that night, I heard from my father about what had happened. I was nearly out the door then, but he said that he, my mother and Jesse were staying at the penthouse and would keep Maeve safe. I wake to warm hands rubbing over my arm and a purring vibration against my back. “Maeve?” Xander’s quiet voice says in my ear. “Mmm, yes?” “My parents are almost here with your siblings. I walk Maeve to Rich’s office. I don’t know if Rich wants to meet with her alone but I don’t care, she’s my mate. Now that he’s getting things figured out with his mate, he needs to know that I’m going to step in if he has a problem with Maeve. After chastising my siblings, then hugging them for loving me so much that they put their own lives at risk, I made sure they went to bed. I know they are exhausted. I am too, but I know there is work to do and if there is a battle coming, I want to be prepared to help. When Xander finds me, he encourages me to get some sleep. “We can show Meadow and Tate around the pack lands when they wake up. That way, they know the boundaries and we only have to do it once.
