CHAPTER XLIV

Cassandra moves through the forest like an animal in its habitat.

The wind blows through her hair as she runs through, dodging the branches and overgrown roots in her way.

Her nose picks up the smell of smoke and burnt wood.

She hastens her pace as her worry grows.

Did hunters come here?

A narrow path comes into sight which leads to a thick bush.

Cassandra jumps through the bushes and her den comes into view.

Her green eyes widen to a destroyed terrain.

There is fire and smoke. 

Death and sorrow; a horrendous duo.

She walks around her home, taking in the dire state of the fallen pack.

Her pack.
