Screams of terror struck the stale air of the back alley.

‘I-Is that a—?’ whispered Jessie, her eyes wide with disbelief. ‘W-Wolf?’

Wolf?!

New fear gripped me.

Shit! Is it behind me?

I couldn’t move, kept my gaze on the trio, begging for them to give me something. A cue, a hint, anything! I don’t want to be eaten!

‘It’s staring at us!’ hissed deer number two, patting the third girl’s shoulder anxiously. ‘I think it ran away from the zoo and was taking a nap here. And we’ve disturbed it!’

The third girl whispered, ‘Damn it, we didn’t disturbed it—Cintilar did. She fell on it.’
