SAGE

AFTER the squirrels were cooked and eaten, Sage packed up their things. "We should go," he said.

She looked at him like he was joking. "What?"

Sage tied up the peloton and whistled at Titan . "We cannot stay where we cook the food. Hold on." He nodded in the woods.

His eyes widened. "Do you think better?"

"Unless you want to share your space with a hungry giant grizzly bear, we can't stay here," Sage said. "We will set up camp further away."

She groans. He took the opportunity to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her closer. Her heart beat faster at the proximity of her body. He still couldn't imagine how much her kiss had completed him. For the first time in a long time, he felt happy. Moreover, she decided to confide in him. This thought made his heart race. She decided to trust him. He couldn't ask for anything more. Well, maybe his shower and bed.

"It's okay. I promised to keep you safe, and here's how." He looked down at her and smiled.
