A Good Hiding Spot

POV: Echo

My whole body felt numb and I couldn’t make out the words that were being shouted by my mate over the ringing in my ears. Instinctively, I moved away from the sounds of an angry wolf at my side, scrambling off of the couch and away.

Taking a quick glance around the room to narrow down my options, I pinpointed my spot. Thankfully, there was a bar-style table that was lined with stools, built into the wall adjacent to the wall with the windows. I hadn’t noticed it coming in, and it was behind where we had been sitting.

Glancing at the wolves on the couch, I saw that their attention was focused on their snarling Alpha and endangered Elder, so I quickly slipped between two stools and ducked into the corner closest to the wall of windows.

Yet another detail I’d missed while focusing on the introductions to the Elders, was the ceiling-to-floor, cream-colored curtains that hung on this side of the window. I had no idea how they were attached, maybe to the ceiling, since I couldn
