Marvin inhales on getting to the exit of the building where the werecouncil was meeting. It was the headquarters of Havillah Industries, a company that was always controlled by the Alpha Supreme of the US since several generations.
His wolf has been weirdly calm ever since they laid eyes on their new mate, Gabriella probably just as shocked as Marvin was about their new mate.
She was extremely beautiful even with how stoic she acted and managed to stir his loins which he wasn't sure if it was an effect of the mate bond or if he truly found her attractive.
'But she is so different, she's not like...', Marvin is thinking when pain coursed through his veins like a fresh stab to his heart. 'I thought you promised not to think about that again', he reminds himself and sighs.
"Damn it Marvin, why are you nervous?", he growls.
'Why wouldn't you be nervous when a mere lady was able to command you and your wolf after an entire life of being in control?', his mind argues.
"She didn't command me, it was Dad who allowed me", he counters.
'You would have followed her out in a few seconds even if your father hadn't allowed you so don't be silly', his mind retorts and this time he could feel his wolf growl in agreement with the thought.
"Whatever, she's a female Alpha", he murmurs. "Marvin, you must be really crazy to be talking yourself in a public place. You're lucky the employees are not present due to the meeting", he chuckles and flips the door open only to see Gabriella in his front.
Her face immediately turns red on seeing him and she begins cursing herself internally for allowing her wolf to convince her to go back in to find him.
"Hey", Marvin grunts uneasily and she takes a step back then another, before smiling then deciding it was stupid and finally reverting back to her emotionless facial expression.
"Hey", she replies in the most confident and in-control voice she could manage.
"Should we go somewhere else before we talk? Maybe a coffee shop or...", Marvin trails off as she bites her lips then swallows.
'How is she so sexy? She's not your type!', his mind yells frustratedly surprised at how alluring he found her.
Unknowing to him, Gabriella is mentally berating herself for having made such a suggestive gesture. It was all because of her perverted mind and equally crazy wolf.
She had been about to suggest his bedroom as the perfect place for them to go before they talk when she realized herself and bit her lip to swallow the stupid thought.
'Now, the guy must be seeing you as a stupid horny lady', she imagines and groans internally. 'He asked you a question!', she suddenly remembers and swallows.
"Umm... Let's just talk here and get it over with", she stutters.
"So should we start with introductions first?"
"Good call", she breathes.
"So... Definitely, we know we're mates", Marvin begins and she swallows uneasily. "I'll take that as a confirmation and go-ahead", he concludes and she slowly nods. "And I know you're Gabriella Stone"
"So you are...", she prompts.
"Marvin Hale", he replies and her eyes widen. "Yes, your Alpha Ultra", he chuckles already knowing why she was shocked.
"You are not my alpha ultra, your position is still under deliberation", she spits and he chuckles.
"I know my father and I know your Alpha Supreme, and I'm certainly sure that the list you made is going to be tossed in the dustbin or somewhere around because he won't give it a second thought", Marvin replies and she glares at him.
"That would be wrong of him!"
"You can't challenge him for doing that, can you?", Marvin retorts.
"I know I can't but the Red Moon pack will still never submit to your authority".
"Why is that?", he asks with a small smile that makes her eyes narrow in annoyance.
"It's because we know what we want; the Red Moon Pack and our allies, and we are ready to fight till we get what we want", she states.
"That's interesting", he chuckles. "So what do you have to gain in this?", he questions directly and she is caught offguard for a moment.
"What do you mean?", she manages to murmur.
"You seem smart despite being sexy as fuck", Marvin begins to say in a straight tone but realizes what he had just said and pauses. "I'm sorry, wrong adjective", he immediately apologizes.
"Whatever", she responds rolling her eyes, irritated not at him but at herself for being pleased that he couldn't resist the urge to compliment her.
"But yes, as I was saying, I expect that you have a personal stake in this", Marvin utters and she groans angrily.
"I'm not that kind of person", she defends.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to have a personal gain in anything you do".
"Whatever, I don't care what you think", she retorts.
"We can't run away from this, I hope you know that"
"Run away from what?", she asks confusedly.
"This whole mate stuff", he responds.
"There's a thing called rejection you know", she points out.
"I won't do it", he states and her eyes widen.
"Even though I'm an enemy of yours?"
"You're not my enemy, yet", he replies and she laughs.
"Well, I will soon make myself that", she smiles.
'You have a beautiful smile, even though you're smiling for the wrong reason', he imagines replying and chuckles.
"Just be honest with me, I'm your mate. If you can tell me what exactly will be your gain when your father becomes the alpha ultra, I promise I would do it and even do it in threefolds"
"I just said I don't have any gain, didn't I?"
"I doubt that", he counters. "Whatever gain you would get wouldn't match up to what you will get if your husband is the alpha ultra so be rational"
"Oh... So now you're claiming I'm irrational right?", she challenges defensively and his eyes widen.
"Hey, I never said anything to that effect", he defends.
"Then what was the meaning of what you said?", she questions and he sighs with an unbelieving chuckle.
"I was just trying to convince you to reconsider your stance in this matter and stick with me instead"
"Just because we're mates right?", she laughs and he slowly nods.
"It's not out of place, is it?", he asks after nodding and she laughs again.
"I wasn't born to be anyone's Luna", she spits.
"Any other woman would see this sudden new mate bond as the best thing ever, you're being unreasonable"
"There you go again with another insult", she points out.
"Stop thinking I'm trying to insult you, I'm trying to have a conversation here"
"And I just don't want to have a conversation that isn't about instating my father as the Alpha Ultra"
"Do you think I could do that even if I tried?", he asks annoyedly.
"Then, you shouldn't talk to me if you can't give me that", she concludes. "I believe we're done with this meeting, you and I can't work since you're my rival"
"Your father's rival", Marvin cuts in.
"Whatever, it makes no difference", she sighs.
"There's a lot of difference actually"
"I don't care though. I, Gabriella Rachael Stone, an alpha and daughter of the alpha of the Red Moon pack, reject you Marvin Hale, alpha of the Moonstone pack, as my mate"
Marvin's eyes widen for a second at Gabriella's declaration as he wasn't expecting it. She definitely took being unreasonable to a different level. "How do you feel now? Satisfied?", he asks wryly. "Shut up and don't make fun of me, I'll go to every length till I'm able to get rid of this mate bond", she grunts and his eyes narrow in confusion. "Isn't the bond gone?", he asks. "Arghh... How come I'm feeling it even more than you do?", she yells and he is forced to burst into laughter. "Shut the fuck up", she shrieks and he laughs even more. "Maybe you should try inserting my middle name when rejecting me next", he chuckles. "Does that even matter?", she retorts. "I don't know", he admits. "Maybe the rejection didn't work because you didn't recognize me as your Alpha Ultra" "You're not my Alpha Ultra, get that into your thick skull" "Why are you so verbally violent?", he playfully complains. "Should I be physically violent instead?", she retorts and he chuckles. "I have a f
"You don't look pleased", Richard Stone, the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack mutters as he looks up from a file on his table. "I'm fine", Gabriella replies softly and shuts the door to her father's study behind her. Once she shuts the door, her hands move to her neck to pick the pendant of her necklace. Her father's eyes catch the ongoing action and he frowns. "I know that gesture", her father points out and takes off his reading glasses. "What?" "You're rubbing your necklace", he replies and she drops the pendant with a sigh. "Why did you call for me?", she asks in a weak attempt to divert from the present trail of conversation before it led her to a dead end. "Gabriella, what's wrong?" "I'm just thinking of what we can do to get taken seriously", she replies, spewing out a half-truth. "What do you mean by that? Do you think the Alpha Supreme was dismissive towards the complaint? Varus didn't inform me of such", Richard probes. "No. He was actually quite interested, but
"Is the Alpha princess in?", Varus asks the guards stationed in front of Gabriella's room and they immediately stand up from their seats. "No, sir", they reply. "How long has she been out?", Varus investigates. "The Alpha King summoned her minutes ago, she hasn't returned since then", one of the guards informs Varus. "Very well then", Varus replies and turns around to go. If Gabriella hadn't returned since meeting with her father, there was only one place she could be: the training room. "Want a partner?", Varus offers after getting to the training room and stopping at the door. "No", Gabriella replies and slashes off the head of the dummy she was sparring with. "That's a lot of heads", Varus chuckles on noticing the number of dummy heads sprawled on the floor. "Who are you angry at exactly? The moon goddess?" "He just had to tell you immediately", Gabriella scowls. "I'm glad he did" "I'm not", she fires back and Varus sighs heavily. "So you weren't going to tell me, your
"Are you sure you don't want to come back with us? One short visit back home wouldn't hurt", Martins tries to convince Marvin. "Can you stop trying to convince him to come to Washington with us? He's not interested", Magnus snarls. "You're supposed to be on my side in this matter. Wouldn't you want him to meet the new Luna?" "As much as I would like to check out this new stepmother of mine, I'm quite occupied back at Aurora", Marvin excuses. "More like you just don't want to come back home", Martins mutters. "Think whatever you want", Marvin retorts. "Goodbye, Father" "Goodbye. Don't forget your deadline for the official opening of the branch, the werecouncil may have chosen you but it would still reflect badly on me if..." "I'll take my leave now", Marvin interrupts and walks away. "That disrespectful fool", Martins mumbles. "Let him be, Martins. I guess he hasn't recovered fully", Magnus realizes. "It's been three years already. He even has a new mate now" "Emotions don'
"Good morning, Alpha", Castor greets with a smile as Marvin walks out of his room dressed in a suit. "Same, Castor", Marvin replies. "What's for breakfast?" "Cereals for me, I don't know about the rest of the house" "I'll just have coffee then", Marvin decides. "Is your mother around?" "No, I'll go find her" "Don't bother, finish up with your breakfast so that you won't be late", Marvin waives and walks into the kitchen. Marvin soon walks out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee in hand and then proceeds to look for Stacey. He finds her in the laundry room and stops at the door. "Stacey" "Marvin. Good morning", she smiles. "I see you haven't made breakfast yet" "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were going to the office today. Karen is still in bed and the rest have gone out already so I thought I could do the laundry before making breakfast", she apologizes. "That's actually fine, I wasn't feeling up to breakfast" "Okay, but won't you take anything at all?" "I already mad
"Marvin!", Trevor calls out in confusion at Marvin's declaration but Marvin was rushing in already. "Guards, there's an intruder!", he yells nonetheless. The ongoing work in the building is immediately paused as all the workers strive to find the intruder. "I heard there's an intruder, sir. How did you spot the intruder?", the head of the construction who was a human asks. "The CEO was the one who raised the alarm, I only helped to spread the alarm" "Where is he?" "He went chasing after the intruder", Trevor repeats and the man walks off. "I wonder what this is about", he sighs. 'I know you're here', Marvin speaks through his wolf link as he runs up one of the staircases. The elevators had stopped working which had to be her doing. He had tried cutting off as many people as he could from his mind link but some wolves that didn't need to hear were still going hear what he had said. 'Nice one', his wolf suddenly hears and he pauses. Gabriella. 'Find me if you can' 'Are you a
"Marvin!", Trevor calls as he runs up the staircase in search of Marvin. 'I'm coming, just stay where you are', Trevor hears through his mind link and immediately pauses. After a while of waiting, Marvin finally reaches where Trevor stood and Trevor sighs in relief on seeing him. "Are you alright?" "Obviously", Marvin grunts in reply and a small smile plasters itself on Trevor's face. "So how did you know there were intruders?", Trevor asks once they are walking down the staircase. "What do you think?", Marvin replies. "Well, I have two speculations that both have large uncertainties involved", Trevor responds. "Spill" "You could have probably sniffed that there was an intruder. I don't know how that's possible though with the number of men we have on site alongside the humans but I guess Alphas could be cool that way. I haven't heard of that power though" "And the second option?" "One of the intruders was someone from our pack", Trevor replies and Marvin frowns. "How did
"Come and look at my little princess", Irvin declares once Trevor and Marvin enter the room where he stood with the newborn child in his arms while Karen sat on the bed watching him. "It's a girl", Marvin breathes out. "Of course it is, did you think the moon goddess wouldn't grant the wishes of most of the inhabitants of this home?", Irvin chuckles. "The male pup team was actually larger", Trevor reminds. "Don't tell me Marvin was rooting for a male pup too" "A pup is a pup. Besides, I am still happy even though Karen dashed my hopes", Marvin replies and Karen smiles. "My hopes were dashed too. Look at how he's cuddling her but he hasn't even touched me since I gave birth", Karen whines. "Irvin!", Trevor and Marvin complain and Irvin laughs. "I was holding her throughout the birth procedure", Irvin argues. "And so?", Trevor retorts and Karen beams with smiles. "I knew you will be on my side! My Alpha and Beta have never disappointed me", Karen rejoices and everyone laughs.
