CH71 - Kai's POV
Quickly rushing to my feet, I half expected to see Cedric or Dereck coming up behind me, but the moment I saw the figure, my heart sank. This man was neither of them nor was he from any of the three packs.
I could smell the scent of an alpha from him, and although I had never met him in person, I knew him to be one of our enemies. He wasn’t here to pursue peace or treaties. Though his exact intent was unknown, I could tell from his smirk that he was not here for pleasantries.
This alpha was huge, probably larger than even Cedric was. This man’s face was covered in battle scars and he had the aura of intimidation surrounding him. I knew that if he started a fight, I would not survive the encounter unless he showed me mercy. And that was assuming he had any to give me.
My heart pounded against my chest as I desperately tried to plan an escape route. The only problem was that I had no way of knowing if he had me surrounded or not.

I don’t know how long I had been unconscious, but the moment I woke up, I could feel my whole body aching all over. The next thing I noticed was the cold, hard floor on which they had dumped me.Slowly, I tried to get to my feet, but the pain in my chest caused me to gasp and fall back down. It would take a while before my body healed itself from the onslaught the alpha had rained down on me, but that was the least of my concerns now.I tried to focus my gaze so that I could see my surroundings. Everything was still blurry and the place they had put me in was dark. My stomach growls loudly as I smell something tantalising from down the hall. At first, I forget where I am and groggily try standing up. It isn’t until the chains yank me back down that I remember.It’s been a few days now, and no one has come for me. It’s almost as though they’ve forgotten me here. It feels like an eternity has passed me by in this Goddess-awful place with this bastard of a man. And yet, in reality, it has only been a few hours at most since the alpha showed up to visit me. I wish he would take the hint that I won’t give up any information that might put Cedric at risk.Slowly, the alpha walked around me. Each footstep was slow and deliberate. I can’t believe it has taken us this long. My fear for Kai’s safety has only grown since we got that picture of him. How long has it been since I have been here? A couple of days? Weeks? Whatever length of time it has been, the only thing I know is that I’ve barely had any treatment or time to recover. Not to mention a lack of food and water.They have been feeding me just enough to survive, but my body grows weaker by the day. I don’t know how much longer I’ll remain able enough to withstand the beatings from the alpha. I get dragged along to the meeting spot in the middle of the passway. The alpha has no plans to hand me over, but I know he will use me as a shield against the two. Several of his warriors come along with him, as well as a scout or two.The alpha pauses within five feet of Cedric and Dereck and nods to his scout. “Make sure they’re not hiding anyone nearby,” he orders with a low growl in his throat.Dereck and Cedric allow the scout to go past them, though they look tense. I wish I could convince them to forget me, but part of me knows they won’t listen to me.
