Chapter 90: Deja Vu

Yvonne and I were running the trail around the lake near the house, sweat dripping into our eyes from the intense heat.

As it was, we were battling ninety-plus degrees; me trying to be a showoff and prove I could keep up with Yvonne, who was already used to this running routine. She apparently did this every day, including working out at the gym.

It was no wonder she was in such great shape. I envied the rigid strength and hard core I could feel in her. She wasn't anyone's plaything or subordinate.

I hated running — almost absolutely loathed it. I would much rather have been in my bed today. It was a Saturday, and it was a week since I had started school. But fortunately for me, I had also learned that I had a competitive spirit, and I wanted to build the same hard spine Yvonne had.
