Chapter One Hundred and Forty

Gemma turned and walked away with Jethro, ignoring Harvey's pained expression as he called out to her. A few new guests noticed them, but no one dared to interject, only stealing glances.

Gemma felt she couldn't stay here any longer. If Harvey continued like this, they would become the laughingstock of the entire party. She stepped out into the backyard behind Susan's main house to take a breath of fresh air. Inside had felt stifling, not due to the crowd, but because she didn't know how to face Harvey anymore.

The scene tonight was beautiful, with the night sky adorned by stars and a romantic moonlight. The rustling of the trees added a soothing ambiance whenever the breeze swept through.
