Someone had noticed Tang Ruochu from the very beginning, and his gaze didn't waver as he observed her while maintaining a safe distance between them.

He was a rather handsome man, and his white shirt and black tuxedo brought out his tall and handsome stature while making his legs seem extremely long.

His features seemed even more well-defined under the bright lights that gently danced across his face. His eyes were as dark as the night, and he exuded an alluring and mysterious charm.

Many young movers and shakers of high society were present at the event, but all these people paled in comparison to this man.

"Sir, the missus is over there. Shall we head over?" Mu Ling said respectfully.

"No, let's wait here. We'll only act when needed."

Although Lu Shijin was extremely attractive, he kept a very low profile and he had deliberately selected this corner of the room to avoid attracting attention to himself.

"Noted!" Mu Ling nodded and held his tongue thereafter.

Gu Ruoruo and Ji Yinfeng were on stage delivering their thank-you speech. "We'd like to express our gratitude to the guests and media who are present at our engagement party..."

Bright flashes went off from the cameras as the reports who had gathered below the stage quickly captured as much of this moment as they could.

After they had delivered their speech, the simple engagement ceremony was quickly concluded as their parents watched on.

Ji Yinfeng took out an expensive diamond ring, slid it onto Gu Ruoruo's finger, and promised to take her as his wife while tears of joy slid down Gu Ruoruo's cheeks.

She felt like a princess who had everyone's attention, and she could also see the envious stares she attracted from the many socialites who were present at the event.

Tang Ruochu continued taking photographs numbly at the back. She would occasionally capture the happy couple in her shots while she maintained her professionalism throughout.

Ji Yinfeng and Gu Ruoruo went around the ballroom to graciously accept the congratulatory toasts from their guests after the ceremony.

Tang Ruochu tried to avoid getting dragged into this but Gu Ruoruo had no intention of letting her off the hook.

"Ruochu, I'm really glad that you were able to make it today," Gu Ruoruo said, her voice dripping with fake enthusiasm as she approached Tang Ruochu. Her arm was linked through Ji Yinfeng's and her eyes glittered smugly.

Ji Yinfeng stiffened.

This was the first time he had seen Tang Ruochu since she had stumbled upon his cheating ways.

He didn't pay much attention to the reporters who had gathered when he was on stage earlier, so he didn't spot her.

He couldn't help asking with a frown, "Were you the one who invited her?"

"Ruochu is my sister, so obviously I would like to get her blessing at our engagement party," Gu Ruoruo said with a gentle smile but she couldn't hide the triumphant look in her eyes.

Tang Ruochu immediately knew that Gu Ruoruo was flaunting her success in front of her.

She looked calmly at the couple and said as she barked out a cold laugh, "I must say that I'm more interested in how you guys met and fell in love!"

"I wonder if you could divulge how you managed to meet in secret, hide your relationship from public view, hook up, and even have a child together. Don't worry, I'll make sure I'll write an interesting headline to accompany this article!"

Even a fool could hear the sarcasm dripping from her voice, so Ji Yinfeng and Gu Ruoruo immediately turned pale and said furiously, "Tang Ruochu, how dare——"

"What's wrong? Are you too embarrassed to admit it? There's no need to mention it in that case. However, I'd like to leave you with a warning—you should stop playing such dirty tricks or I can't guarantee what I'll do next," Tang Ruochu said coldly before she walked away without a second glance.

"Tang Ruochu!!!" Gu Ruoruo eked out through gritted teeth.

This was just a minor altercation during the engagement party but this incident caught many people's attention.

"Didn't you tell me that Tang Ruochu wasn't going to attend this party? Is she here to stir up trouble?" Zhao Xiaowan snapped in irritation as she turned to look at Tang Song with a frown.

Tang Song was equally confused but he said, "Since she has decided to come, maybe it means that she has come to terms with this reality."

"I should hope so, because I don't want her ruining Ruoruo's happiness," Zhao Xiaowan said.

Tang Ruochu would have burst out laughing if she had overheard Zhao Xiaowan's words.

How could Zhao Xiaowan allow her daughter to ruin someone else's happiness, then forbid her from doing the same? Her daughter really took after her, for they were equally shameless.

Gu Ruoruo's actions had upset her because she had already lost this fight, yet Gu Ruoruo was constantly reminding her of this.

Everyone has a temper, and this was especially so for Tang Ruochu since she had to deal with one upsetting situation after another.

However, she didn't want to show any sign of weakness in front of them, or let them gloat over her misery.

Soon after, they were halfway through the engagement party. Gu Ruoruo had changed into different gowns over the course of this event, and her outfits drew praise from the guests.

Tang Ruochu wasn't interested in this party. She was just waiting for it to end so that she could go home.

However, she froze in shock when she saw Gu Ruoruo's final outfit. She saw red as her eyes flashed with anger.
