Chapter forty

Angel

I woke up early, my mind still heavy with the weight of the previous night's encounter. As I quietly slipped out of bed, I glanced back at Selena, her peaceful form a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within me. I knew I had to handle this situation carefully, and keeping Selena in the dark about my plans was the only way to protect her.

Silently, I made my way to the living room, where I had set up a secure line to communicate with the different factions of the mafia. The room was dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls, matching the uncertainty that lingered in my mind. I reached for the phone and dialed the number, waiting for the connection to be established.

"Good morning, gentlemen," I greeted the voices on the other end of the line, my tone calm and authoritative. "I trust you're all ready to move forward with our plans?"
