Jasmine’s POV I should be bothered about being unemployed because I have a family to care for and a whole lot of ambitions to accomplish, but I find myself thinking about home. My body was right here with Emily, but my soul and mind were home. I longed to be with my father and most especially, get all of this over with. “Mum?” Emily's tiny voice pulls me back to the real world. I was swift enough to stop myself from yelping. Even though her voice was the softest and sweetest melody, it startled me. “Yes, baby?” I pulled her to myself and wrapped her in my arms. "Speak to me darling, mum is all ears.” I promoted her. Oddly, she drew closer, her pretty bulgy eyes were on me, scanning my face with scrutiny, and her brows furrowed seconds later, with her lips formed in a pout. "Why are you crying?" She wiped my moist cheeks with her little palm. Oh... What was I expecting? Emily was a smart kid, she was also the curious and adventurous type. It was no wonder she knew I wasn't fe
Asher's POV“Fuck you!” Liam screamed as he launched himself at me fiercely. This Liam was like a wild cat even though he had no trace of werewolf blood running in his veins. He looked furious and scary, way more than a mortal ordinarily would appear. "Yo!” I was terrified of the beast I awakened. I wasn't swift enough to dodge him, as his fist smacked me hard on the face and I fell flat to the ground with my back, with him safely landing on top of me like a squirrel hunting for ripe berries. “Ouch... Shit!” I lamented as I took the defense, shielding every fierce blow the angry bird threw at me. “I hate you!” He didn't relent as he moved on from random punches to slaps and kicks with his knee and each got harder than the previous. It was both painful and hilarious, because this was the first time I had seen Liam this pissed, and it had him acting like a toddler throwing tantrums. “Argh!” I groaned when a slap landed on my nose, almost distorting it from its original position.
Sebastian’s POV“Let's do this.” This sounded like a command, and I hated it when I got commanded by just anybody. On second thought, it seemed like an agreement... Wait! Who was it?!The frail feminine voice had me shaking my head to get who it was, even though my guesses were narrow. I looked at my phone and the private number again. I only had a pending proposal with Jasmine and a disagreement with Dr. Kylie. Aside from the two of them, I had no woman in my life, except my mother, of course. Talia was far gone.Striking my mother off the list, I was left with Jasmine and Dr. Kylie. If Jasmine wanted to state her point, she didn't need to use a private number. What were these sudden changes all about? It made it hard for me to trap my prey. And with Dr. Kylie, she wouldn't be opting for a bargain I am still ignorant of, also, the last time she left here, she was furious. It would come as a rude shock if her voice was this frail and tender. “Are you still there?” The caller inqui
Jasmine's POV“And the award for the most naughty mum of the year goes to...”"Oh, please, stop being ridiculous." I stopped Rylee from finishing off. “Now I'm being ridiculous. Really?” She scoffed. "Look at the one who sent her kids away.” She didn't budge. “I didn't send my kids away.” I defender myself. “So, explain adding extra curricular activities to their initial school work, if not to have Asher all to yourself. " She mocked. "Greedy mum.”“They need to learn... There are a lot of catching up to do.” I sighed. "You should see it from my perspective before you judge me at least.”“Yen. Yen. Yen.” She mimicked me, and made no effort in doing it right. I looked and sounded awful on her. I stiffened a grin. I was being mocked, there was no way I would make it obvious that she was funny. “Baby girl, you only got rid of them, admit to it.” She rolled her eyes. Right now, I was unable to suppress the laughter aggressively brewing inside of me. Rylee saw beyond my facade, alw
Jasmine's POV“Where are you?”“Uh...” I stuttered. Lying wasn't my strength, no matter how white I tried to paint it. My first giveaway was that I stuttered. “I know you can hear me vividly.” Rylee sighed. "Do not pull that network crap on me.”She was a smart pant, I would have to give her that. Back to level zero, I began to think of the best response, before her impatient ass would make it any harder for me. "I decided to take a walk and clear my head.” I finally replied Rylee. “Jas?” Her voice boomed from my phone's speaker. She sounded like 'What the heck?’ “What? It's the truth...”"By 8: 00 PM, and you expect me to buy that line?” She scoffed. "Everything is getting to me lately, I decided to take the back seat for once, Rylee.” I wasn't making sense, I knew I wasn't. "Jasmine, I will ask this just one more time, and if you still insist on that...” She heaves a sigh. "I will end this call dial Asher’s line and tell him that you're not with me...”“Rylee...”"Where. Are.
Sebastian’s POV"I have just one rule, Jasmine."Like a statue, she froze on the spot. Her hand that was on her bag was a bit shaky, it was clear that she was nervous as she did a poor job hiding it. Thankfully, I could see right through her like an open book. What baffled me was her sudden state of nervousness. For one that dished out rules like they were mere alphabets, I was in awe. "A golden rule, that you must NEVER break.” I said, placing more emphasis on the 'never’. If I was going to stick to three of her rules, it was only fair that she agreed to mine. And what made this more interesting is that she never saw this coming. I bet she was expecting to feed me her shitty rules and leave while I choked on them. Such a joke. “You might as well spew whatever you have to say.” She murmured with a sign, all that gave her anxiousness so cheaply. “You may want to sit.” I mocked her subtly. “You have one minute to speak.” She didn't relent.“Upon arrival, we are no longer sworn ene
Liam's POV “Are you sick?”"No," I answered another of Brady's hundredth questions. It was like he had a pocketful of them, as I was tired of keeping count. It was almost fifteen whole minutes since I got into his office and he began with the nonstop interrogation like I was dying the next minute and he needed everything about me in a book, or maybe I was a wanted criminal and somehow, I didn't know about it. Going on and on with the questions I was obviously not done with, got me more irritated. Was Brady trying to piss me off and get me on his bad book, not like anyone was on the good one, but then, all of his act seemed like he was doing this on purpose. “Do you have a sick child?” He kept at it. How convenient. “No.” I groaned a response. I was the one in need of a favor, I guess I would stick with whatever came with it. “Or a sick wife or family member?” He threw yet another of his numerous questions at my face, unapologetically. Jeez! I was done. If he threw one more que
Author’s POV“That's absolute rubbish!” Dr. Berneji fired at no one in particular. In the conference room, he was seated with his Dr. Jenkins, they discussed at length, as they made reference to the magazines in their hands. They both seemed worried like the inevitable had finally befell them. "I totally agree with you.” Dr. Jenkins sighed. "It would only take a dumb person, or probably a bitter soul to sign such a thing into action and expect his subordinates to follow suit like zombies.” He finished, finally catching his breath. “And we are no zombies!” Dr Berneji agreed with Dr. Jenkins. The door opened to see Dr. Liam, and oddly, he didn't seem like he was in a bad state. He joined the conference meeting, taking a seat at the extreme, away from them in a subtle way. It wasn't so obvious that he desperately wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. “Welcome, Dr. Liam.” Dr. Jenkins waved in his usual fashion. “Hello.” Dr. Liam responded with a fake smile to butter it. He
