FROZEN ON THE SPOT

"What do you mean by she's bringing that good-for-nothing home?" Mrs. Avery asks incredulously.

"Sister told me that just now," Brianna says to her mother frowning her face. "She's with him as we speak."

Mrs. Avery clenches her fist. Her very own daughter left her on the hospital bed to go see that poverty-stricken thing?

"Lucien Wood, you useless thing!" She curses through gritted teeth.

Brianna opens her mouth to say something when the door opens.

"Mum," Juliet calls walking into the ward. She sighs in relief as she sees Mrs. Avery sitting on the bed.

Mrs. Avery humps and looks away seeing Juliet approaching her.

But Juliet not understanding why she would do that shrugs it off, comes over, and kisses her on the forehead. "How are you feeling now mum?" She sits down beside her.

It is as she sits down that she notices both her sister and mother frowning their faces.

"Brianna? Mum? What's wrong?"

"Everything is wrong Juliet!" Mrs. Avery scowls.
