Chapter 15

Anna's POV

I walked into Victor's study, the heavy oak door creaking open as I stepped inside. The room was dimly lit, the warm glow of a desk lamp casting long shadows on the walls. Victor sat behind his mahogany desk, his face etched with a mixture of determination and concern. He glanced up as I entered, a flicker of relief crossing his eyes.

"Anna," he said, his voice filled with a mix of weariness and resolve. "I've been waiting for you. There's something I need to tell you."

I took a seat across from him, the leather chair creaking under my weight. I looked into his eyes, searching for answers, and silently urged him to continue.

"I received a message today," Victor began, his voice low and tense. "It's from an old business partner of mine, Robert Kensington. We had a falling out years ago, and it seems he's seeking revenge."

I felt a knot tighten in my stomach, a sense of unease settling over me. "What does he want?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
