Jackson drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, glancing at Amelia from the corner of his eye. She has been silent since she climbed into the car and he could tell she was bothered by the visit of her ex fiancee. He knew she had said that she could handle it but he only wished that she would allow him help her one way or the other.

This morning even with the whole hangover, she had been lively and now he did not think he could draw her out of the mood she was in and it infuriated him to know that it was another man putting her in such a mood.

There was a heaviness in her eyes, a distant look that hadn't been there before.

"Hey," Jackson said, breaking the silence that had stretched between them for miles. "You okay?"

Amelia blinked, her gaze shifting from the passing scenery to Jackson's concerned face. "Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine, why?” she responded, smiling at him.
