The hours passed in blissful solitude, my mind absorbed in the pages of the book, the words and pictures burning into my soul. But as the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow through the window, I heard the familiar sound of the room door opening. Alexander had returned home.

He made his presence known with a gentle kiss on my forehead, his touch imbued with love and tenderness. I smiled up at him, basking in the warmth of his affection. The worries and stresses of the day seemed to melt away in his presence.

I couldn't hold myself back and rushed to ask questions. "Alexander, why didn't you tell me we had been invited to an art charity auction event?"

"What Charity event?" He asked confused. "I found the invite in an envelope at the work table." I explained. A look of surprise crossed his face, followed by a sheepish expression. "Actually, I completely forgot to open it. It must still be downstairs."

A mischievous glint shone in my eyes.
